Following the recent ruling of the CJC, the plenary will vote on Monday to change the legal form of cession of land

The mayor values positively that the consensus among administrations allows to resume the works of the cultural center

23 January 2018
El alcalde valora positivamente que el consenso entre administraciones permita retomar las obras del centro cultural

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has positively assessed that "the consensus and dialogue" among administrations come back to the works of the cultural center of the city. Pérez has made these declarations after the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, announced that the Board of Directors of the Society of Thematic Projects of the Valencian Community (STPCV) has agreed to the novation of the agreement with the City Council to execute, in a initial phase, part of the unfinished building.

Specifically in this phase, attending what was raised at the time by the City Council with a proposal approved in full June, will finish the four facades and all the roofs of the building, the smaller room of 546 seats, the professional music conservatory and dance, and the cafeteria.

Pérez recalled that "from the City we assume commitments so that the cultural center had a solution" with "a table of minimums that we accept" and that would allow the pending work to be presented in several phases.

Among these commitments was to assume "the imposition of changing the legal concept of cession of land" in favor of the SPTCV made in 2006 to move from a surface right to a public concession. "We have met that commitment in a timely manner," he explained, "after receiving the endorsement of the Consell Jurídic Consultiu", which last week - at the request of the City Council - favorably approved the protocol agreed by the local administration and the SPTCV and the change of the legal figure.

A change that will be effective next Monday when the plenary assumes "lift the suspension of everything we had worked" and modify the legal figure "so that the Consell, through the SPTCV, has in its hands all the tools that we he demanded to be able to make a dream come true for people of Benidorm ". In principle, Puig has pointed out that this phase of the works could be completed in 15 months, with an investment of 11 million euros.

The mayor thanked "the will and effort of the corporation, the Generalitat, the SPTCV", three actors who "had to be on the same line" to give a solution to the cultural center, to be "a great infrastructure to the service not only of Benidorm, but also of the Valencian Community and the tourist industry ".
