The mayor receives the world champion of Valencian pilota and those selected for the ITF Taekwon-Do Junior European Championship
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, have received five young local athletes today. On the one hand, he has had a meeting with José Luis Calbo, a player from Benidorm Valencian Pilota Club, who recently proclaimed himself champion with the regional team in the World Cup held in Alzira. The player was part of the team that reached the final against the powerful Belgian team, which they beat by a comfortable result of 6-2. Calbo also participated in the international game modality, beating Italy in the final, with a tight 6-5.
These results, along with those obtained in the modalities of fronton (3rd place) and 'one wall' have allowed the team to revalidate the world title, whose previous edition was played in 2017 in Colombia; a championship in which the player from Benidorm also participated.
Likewise, the mayor transferred the best of luck to the four students of the Tae Benidorm club who have been selected in the junior category to represent Spain in the next Taekwon-Do ITF European Championship: Lucas Mencía, Vladimir Safronov, Alena Mitkova, and Eder Change. A European Championship to be held next Monday, April 24 in Romania.
