The mayor proposes to ask the Ministry to create units of 2-3 years in the schools of Foietes

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, is going to take to the next plenary session a motion to request the Ministry of Education to create children's units of First Cycle, 2-3 years, in public schools in the neighborhood of Foietes. The proposal has been decided on Monday in an informative commission and includes "the feeling transferred by the Municipal School Council, which endorsed it in an extraordinary session held at the end of last December."

Pérez, who also holds the delegation of Education, recalled that "last year the Conselleria included Benidorm in a pilot experience to implement units of 2-3 years in public schools in the Community."

In particular, he chose to create this classroom in the public school Puig Campana, in the Els Tolls neighborhood, "precisely the area of ​​Benidorm with greater supply of municipal units and posts of this level" by having Fontanelles municipal school in which there are 80 places for children of 2 years.

The mayor pointed out that "we believe that this extension of child education must be coordinated, introduced and carried out in those areas of Benidorm where there is no public offering," as in the case of Foietes norte.

At present, and outside the classroom created at the Puig Campana school, Benidorm offers a total of 180 municipal public places of this level in the three municipal schools. In addition to 80 in Fontanelles and Les Caletes, located in the Rincón de Loix - has 60 seats; While El Tossalet - in La Cala- offers another 40 places. "These places come to meet a demand that exists throughout the term," but "makes it clear that where we have not been able to build a kindergarten and where we have not been able to offer this level of education has been in Foietes area, due to the lack of availability of soil ", he has detailed.

Pérez has stressed that both Vasco Núñez de Balboa and the schools Aitana and Bautista Lledó "could offer these studies perfectly."

For the mayor, the next course is "a good time" to increase the supply in this educational level, and that it is "supported by autonomous funds as the Ministry is doing in other municipalities, where it has already created more than one unity".
