Benidorm commemorates with a virtual institutional plenary session the 695 anniversary of its foundation
The Mayor highlights on Benidorm Day the ability of the city to cope in adversity
Toni Pérez has in this act a memory for those who suffer from the effects of the pandemic and for those who have left us and highlights that Benidorm will recover the prosperity it deserves
Benidorm has commemorated the 695th anniversary of its foundation today with an institutional plenary, developed electronically and relayed through the technology platforms of the City Council, from the Plenary hall and away from the emblematic place that Benidorm was born as a town, its castle on Punta Canfali , whose vestiges have recently been recovered and valued, as the mayor pointed out, "after a risky and ambitious archaeological intervention".
Toni Pérez chaired the session attended by the members of the corporation through a technological application, and to which the heads of the Corps and State Security Forces, the Local Police and Civil Protection, representatives have been invited of Comissió de Festes Majors Patronal, de l'Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge, members of the Grup Carta de Poblament, various festive, social and cultural entities of the city and the general public that have been able to follow the development through the set of municipal social networks.
The mayor alluded to the circumstances that have conditioned a celebration so intimate and participatory that they have prevented going to the foundational origin of the city, recently remodeled, to live this act with greater intensity, alluding in his intervention that he has witnessed "the most episodes transcendental that this land has lived, some of them certainly hard and complicated "like the current one, while stressing that" of all these adversities, Benidorm has always come out ahead ", expressing his confidence that" we will also do this health crisis , which is social and economic ”.
He recalled "the sweet moment" with which 2020 had begun and "the current bitter times", remembering "the friends or family of whom we have not been able to say goodbye".
Toni Pérez stressed that "We have suffered seeing our neighbors, land and country suffer."
The first mayor has emphasized in his institutional speech the certainty that "our people, this city, with the push of all, will resurface stronger and recover all the prosperity it deserves." And he stressed that his conviction emanates because Benidorm "in the course of history has proven to be enterprising, imaginative, fighter and brave"
Toni Pérez ended his speech by recalling the words attributed to Admiral Bernat de Sarrià in the staging of the Poblament Letter Group: “Que Déu, el nostre senyor vos guie, per a que pugau viure amb la seguretat necessaria, i que la terra i la sea you donate the fruit of the vostre treball ”.
Then, an interpretation of the Benidorm anthem has been played, followed by the members of the corporation, after which the mayor has adjourned the session.
