The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has received this morning at the City Hall the United Kingdom's ambassador, Simon Manley, who has come to the city accompanied by the consul of this country in Alicante, Sara-Jane Morris. The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, was also present.
According to statistics from Hosbec, there were around 5.2 million overnight stays in Benidorm in 2016. The UK is the main source of tourists in the city. The mayor has informed the ambassador of topics of common interest and his semiannual follow-up with the consulate, such as the operation and services provided in the SATE (Service of Foreign Tourist Service) in 2016, as well as the progress of the works and the next Commissioning of the new building at its location in the Rincón de Loix.
