Flights include surveillance of campsites

The Local Police will control with the drone that the confinement is fulfilled in rural areas and urbanizations

24 March 2020
La Policía Local controlará con el dron que se cumple el confinamiento en las zonas rurales y urbanizaciones

Benidorm Local Police will carry out drone flights in rural and residential areas in Benidorm to check that it is also being carried out in these parts of the city with the confinement decreed by the Government of Spain as a consequence of the coronavirus crisis.

As indicated by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez, "this surveillance will allow us to verify compliance with these guidelines in the spaces and common areas of urbanizations and also in the campsites, which by government decree must close to the public like the rest of the lodging establishments ”.

Martínez pointed out that "controlling these urbanization and rural areas with the drone allows us to concentrate the presence of the Local Police in the urban area, where the volume of population is greater, where there are more movements of vehicles, and where in addition health and care centers are located and that may require the services of the officers; ultimately, where surveillance must be reinforced to ensure that citizens are in compliance with the confinement, essential to prevent the spread of the virus. ”

Likewise, the councilor has reported that the shifts of the Local Police have been changed, in such a way that the officers will work for seven days in shifts of12-hour days and will rest in their homes the following 14 days.
