The Costalers de Sant Jaume, promoters of the repair works, will pay for the latest interventions with the sale of one hundred lithographs of the work of the local painter José Albero.
This morning, lithographs were presented for the first time at a press conference in which the mayor, Toni Pérez, took part; the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; and costalers José Pasqual and José Ferrer, who is also its president.
The lithographs are presented in a special folder accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and are put up for sale at a symbolic price of 50 euros. "A great memory - Toni Pérez said - that you can be in our homes in exchange for a donation" with which "all the people of Benidorm" can feel "part and share of the restoration of an image that for the first time, After its restoration, it will be processed on November 10, “first day of our Festes Majors Patronals” of 2019.
As president of the Costalers, José Ferrer recalled that the restoration could begin “thanks to a donation from the Comissió” of 2018 that made a donation of the first 3,000 euros needed. The rest is intended to be obtained by selling the lithographs. "We shuffled the possibility - he has qualified - to do some more but we think we will have enough" with the 5,000 euros that will be obtained and with this "we give more value to the work." Ferrer has apologized in advance because there will be those who run out of the picture because "possibly, they will take them out of our hands."
Lithographs can be purchased, from the end of this week, in the lobby of Milord’s Hotel, on Paseo de la Carretera. The neighbors who acquire the lithographs will be recorded.
