Sant Jaume cemetery hosted the traditional Eucharist celebration at midday, which was repeated in the afternoon at Verge del Sofratge cemetery

Large crowds visited Benidorm cemeteries for All Saints' Day

Thousands of people remembered and paid tribute to their deceased loved ones in Benidorm this Saturday, observing the traditional All Saints' Day festivities. The day passed without any significant incidents, despite the very large crowds at the city's two cemeteries.

At 12:30 p.m., Sant Jaume municipal cemetery hosted a mass officiated by the parish priest of the Church of San Francisco de Asís, Francisco Juan Galiana, which was attended by hundreds of residents. Among them were the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the councillor for cemeteries, Jaime Jesús Pérez; and other members of the municipal council. The Eucharist was repeated later in the afternoon at the Maré de Déu del Sofratge cemetery, this time officiated by the parish priest of the Church of La Almudena, Pedro Crespo.

To facilitate access to the city's cemeteries, the City Council has opened access to Sant Jaume Cemetery from the Assagador de Ricardo, in addition to the access from the industrial park. Furthermore, the city's cemeteries have been open continuously this week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to allow everyone to pay their respects to their deceased loved ones. Tomorrow, Sunday, in observance of All Souls' Day, there will also be special hours, although both cemeteries will close after the two scheduled masses, which will begin at 5:00 p.m.

It is also worth noting that the City Council, in collaboration with the urban transport company, has reinforced the Line 5 bus service to Sant Jaume Cemetery throughout the week. On Sunday, the frequency will also increase, with departures from the same Jaime I stop, near Bonanza Hotel, at 10:30, 11:30, 16:30, and 17:30; and from the Avenida del Mediterráneo stop, closest to the Tecnohito (technology landmark), at 10:40, 11:40, 16:40, and 17:40. The service from the cemetery will run at 11:00, 12:00, 17:00, and 18:00.
