Juan Ángel Ferrer has assumed the presidency of Rotary Club of Benidorm in a ceremony held at  Plaza Hotel. Alfredo Melgar, the outgoing president, presented the new highest representative of the entity with the president's necklace in an act that was attended by the acting mayor, Toni Pérez, and a large institutional and social representation of the city and region.

At the ceremony, the special distinction of the Rotary Club was delivered to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca, who these days put an end to a long career in public service. Likewise, the non-profit entity has paid homage to the recently deceased partner Francisco Devesa Llorca and recognized the work in the reception of refugees from Ukraine to the commissioner of the National Police, Ceferino Serrano, and the collaborations of Francisco Albero, Eli Cano, Francisco Llinares Zaragoza, Maria Llinares Zaragoza, and Ana Martin.

After the farewell words of the outgoing president, Alfredo Melgar, he was given Juan Ángel Ferrer the necklace of the presidency of the Rotary Club Benidorm and he, after his welcome speech, presented the Board of Directors.

Toni Pérez closed the event by addressing the attendees to thank the support received by the Rotary Club "when it was most needed", in a clear reference to the pandemic that hit us recently. The acting mayor addressed Ferrer to insist that during the period that opens "you will have all of us supporting you", he congratulated the new board of directors and thanked the club for its contribution to "recognize talent" in Benidorm and its region.

The Rotary Club of Benidorm was founded in 1994. Currently, it has 32 members from all over the region. Among the solidarity activities he carries out, his collaboration with the Doble Amor Center, the Residence and Occupational Center Les Talaies, and the Red Cross stands out. It supports associations such as Anémona, AFEM, and Enfermos de Alzheimer and promotes study and entrepreneurship with the Isidro Cortina and Batiste Fuster awards.
