Javier Mayor y Gemma Selby se impone en el 40º Cross El Calvari celebrado esta mañana

Benidorm has celebrated this weekend its third sports stage dedicated to 'running' with the celebration of the second longest test of the Valencian Community, the Cross El Calvari, which this year was celebrating its 40th edition, organized by Brotons Group and the support of the Department of Sports, El Calvari Festa and Benidorm Athletics Club, which involved a total of 120 athletes in adult category, and about four hundred young people in children's categories.

In absolute category the winner was the athlete of Unoom Restaurant La Nucia Javier Mayor Herce who reached the finish line with a time of 27:39, followed by the Benidorm athlete Manuel Tirado Jiménes (27:52), while the third place went to Antonio Tirado Serrano del CA Benidorm (29:13), whose race distance was 8,000 meters, and which toured El Calvari neighborhood and Paseo de Levante, in two laps.

In females the winner was the athlete of CA El Faro Gemma Ann Serby (32:42), followed by the athletes Pilar Rodriguez (35:00) and Estela Ortuño (36:39).

After the test came the turn of schoolchildren, where 426 students from schools in Benidorm travelled different distances in the cadet, child, juvenile, benjamín, prebenjamín and babies category, crowding the streets of the center of Benidorm.

Lastly and on the occasion of Cross Calvari, 'Diego Cano Enguera' Awards were presented, which are annually awarded to a festive entity and an athlete or sports entity. Awards that are celebrating their 22nd anniversary and that were for the swimmer Miguel Bou Bernabeu and for Jaime Pérez Llorens 'El Llugueret' for their devotion to the Major Festivities in which each year he participates as a singer of traditional songs.

In the awards ceremony were present the Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, the queens of the Major Patronal Festivities, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, the president of the Association de Penyes, Coly Pérez, sponsors of the event and members of El Calvari Festa.
