It's already ‘Fiesta in Benidorm’
Benidorm lives its Festes Majors Patronals. At 10.00 in the morning, a mass has taken place in the Parish Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna sung by the ACR ‘La Barqueta’ and the Parochial Choir.
At noon, after the general bells flip and the subsequent bombardment, the official events started with the Bandes Entrance that started from the Plaza de Sant Jaume and would cross the old town until reaching the square of SSMM the Kings of Spain. The mayor, Toni Pérez, participated in the delegation; the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and other members of the municipal corporation. Also, the queens Mayor and Infantil, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor; the presidents of the Comissió and the Associació de Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’, Roberto Carretero and Coly Pérez, banderero and family, mayoral and mayoral of honor.
The Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina, the La Primitiva Musical Union of Castell de Castells, the Lira de Relleu Musical Society, the Agrupació Musical l'Alegre Sinfonica de La Nucia, the Ateneu Musical de la Vila Joiosa, the Musical Group of Xaló, the Unió Musical de Polop de la Marina, the Puig Campana Musical Center of Finestrat, the Musical Society l'Illa de Benidorm, the Musical Society La Nova de Benidorm and the Musical Union of Benidorm.
Once the Bands are gathered at SSMM los Reyes de España square, the queens and the president of the Comissió have imposed a commemorative bow tie on the banners of the bands. Then, all in unison have interpreted the pasodoble ‘Fiesta in Benidorm’, official hymn of the Festes Majors Patronals, under the direction of its author, the teacher Rafael Doménech Pardo. Finally, a thunder and color bombardment took place, in charge of the Ricasa pyrotechnics.
This afternoon, at 17.00, on Paseo de Poniente, the Patroness' Finding, Mare de Déu del Sofratge, will be staged by the ACR ‘La Barqueta’. At 18.30 will start the pilgrimage and Offering of Flowers from Elche Park. Upon completion at the doors of the church, Paula Mayor will recite a verse to the Virgin, and Marina Carrillo will head to the town of Benidorm. Later the proclamation of the festivities will take place and Francisco Amillo will read the street cry. Toni Pérez will close the event.
In the evening there will be musical performance at 10 pm in the Huerto de Colón and at 11 pm, in the Plaza de SSMM the Kings of Spain, local bands will give a concert. Halfway through the event the result of the Contest of Streets and Clubs decoration will be announced.
