Inventivenees and fun take to the streets with the Benidorm Children's Carnival

Hundreds of children and adults enjoyed Benidorm Children's Carnival this Saturday morning, which filled the city's streets with fun and colour and a colourful parade organised by Verge del Sofratge Penyes Association. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, together with numerous members of the municipal Corporation and the president of the Clubs Association, Jonathan López, welcomed all the participants in this multicoloured parade at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, which was also attended by a large number of people.
A huge clown was in charge of opening the Carnival parade for the little ones together with the children's queen of the Festes Majors Patronals 2025, Aitana Pérez Guitiérrez, who paraded out of competition with her court of honour in an elaborate wind-up doll costume. The president of the Commission, Susana Martínez, also participated in the parade with them, and once in the square they joined the queen, Paula Pascual Sánchez, and her ladies in the official stands.
Next, it was the turn of the numerous assemblies that participated in the competition, both individually and in the group category, and where there was no shortage of storybook characters, cartoon characters, marine animals, policemen and robbers, farmers, lizards, astronauts, dragons, rock stars, mimes, magicians, Vikings, aviators, hippies and an endless number of costumes to give fantasy to the parade.
‘Alice in Wonderland’ from Penya l’Espardenya won the first prize in the group category, worth 300 euros, followed by ‘Chinese New Year’ and ‘A good face in bad weather’ from Penya El Parotet won 200 and 100 euros, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the individual category, the first prize, worth 100 euros, was awarded to a little girl who starred in a funny recreation of ‘The Queen of England’. The second prize, valued at 75 euros, was for the ‘Moon Goddess’, and the 50 euros of the third prize went to the ‘Carnival under the sea’ costume.
The Mayor and the Councillor for Fiestas, together with the queens of the Festes and the presidents of the Commission and Association of Penyes, awarded these six prizes and congratulated all the participants. Both Toni Pérez and Mariló Cebreros applauded the “high participation and the great quality of the costumes” and have thanked the families and the clubs for “continuing to work every year to make the best costumes and make us have a great Carnival morning”.
Tonight, at 9 pm, the adult Carnival will take place and will depart from Venus Street to go down Ruzafa Street, Herrerías Street and Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, where a great costume party will take place.
