The Digital Tourist Congress, which is being held in Benidorm until today, delivered the usual annual awards and recognitions yesterday afternoon. Six categories in which a total of 50 candidates competed, to which were added a special mention and the recognition of an autonomous community. Ametic, employer of the Spanish digital industry and organizer of the congress, was the entity that presented the awards after the decision of a jury of experts.
Among the winners, the Benidorm Invattur won recognition in the 'Tourist data management' category, after winning the battle against the Costa del Sol. Mario Villar, director of Tourist Intelligence for Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, was in charge of collecting the award. In his brief speech, he encouraged everyone "to fail, fail and fail until successful" and recalled that in the case of Invattur "this conglomeration of data and successes comes after many failures."
As for the rest of the categories, the award for 'Universal Tourist Accessibility' went to the City Council of Hellín (Albacete) for its augmented reality project on the preservation of rock caves.
In the category of 'Management of the tourist flow', the recognition went to the Sevilla City Office, which had a tough rival in the Vigo City Council, according to the jury. Three-quarters of the same happened with the category 'Innovation of the tourist offer', whose award went to the Diputación de Pontevedra for its project 'Tourist Inside'.
The company Bosch Service Solutions won the award in the category 'Normalization and semantics of digital tourism', a company that has been the first to be certified as sustainable at a global level and has been a pioneer in the anonymization of personal and behavioural data.
Finally, in the category of 'Tourism in the 2030 Agenda', the distinction went to the city of Seville for a project based on a system of sustainability indicators.
Ametic also gave a special mention to the company Hamacapp, for its mobile application for renting hammocks and umbrellas on the beaches. The appointment concluded with the recognition of the invited autonomous community, in this case, Castilla La Mancha.
