Hundreds of people attend the traditional blessing of animals on Sant Antoni's Day in the hermitage
Hundreds of people attended this Sunday the traditional blessing of animals that is celebrated every year in the Hermitage of Sanz on the occasion of Sant Antoni's Day. Accompanied by their pets, the residents of Benidorm have paraded before a temple, from where the parish priest of the hermitage has blessed the animals. Previously, a mass has been celebrated in honor of the saint in a tent located next to the hermitage.
The act was attended by, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Fátima Carrobles and Anna Calbo, together with their court of honor; the presidents of the Comissió de Festes and the Associació de Penyes, Paco Marín and Dani Luque; and the representatives of the different parties that are celebrated in the hermitage: the Magi's Parade, San Isidro and El Roser. Some entities this year have collaborated with the City Council in organizing the events of San Antoni.
Throughout the morning the festivities of La Huerta have put on sale various typical products such as sausages, bread rolls and wood bread.
The blessing of animals has put an end to the acts of Sant Antoni, after the pilgrimage and the offering of flowers held yesterday.
