The Association of People with Disabilities of Benidorm and the Region (Asmibe) held its 25th Adapted Sports Games today, which took place, as in previous years, on the artificial turf field of the Guillermo Amor Sports Complex. Nearly 300 athletes from 19 centres across the city and province participated in the event, culminating just after noon with the presentation of trophies and medals and a large fellowship meal.

The event was attended by the Councillor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, and the Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, who did not want to miss the presentation of awards to all the participating centres and athletes. Both were accompanied by the president of Asmibe, Mari Fernández.

Schools, special education centres, occupational centres, and nursing homes from Benidorm, the region, and the province took part in these Games. This year, a total of 19 centres participated, nine of which are located in Benidorm (Asmibe, Tapis, Doble Amor, CRIS Benidorm, CEEM Benidorm, CEIP Puig Campana, AFEM Marina Baixa, IES Mediterránia, and the CC OO Training Centre).

Other centres from various towns in the province also participated (Les Talaies Centre and El Secanet School in La Vila Joiosa, Aprosdeco Day and Occupational Centre in Denia, Apadis Day Centre in Villena, Apadis Occupational Centre in Villena, Residencia DF in Relleu, APSA Occupational Centre in San Juan, L'Arabí Secondary School in Alfaz del Pi, Garrofers Day Centre in Elche, and San Rafael Centre in Alicante). All of them came with instructors, companions, and collaborators.

The Adapted Sports Games are inclusive games featuring numerous events such as assisted running, sprinting, long jump, shot put, petanque, a psychomotor circuit, goal-kicking, basketball hoops, tennis, mini-golf, parachuting, bowling, and skill games, among others.

All events were organised and coordinated by the TAFAD (Tamil Sports Association) of the Lope de Vega School, with around twenty students who helped and encouraged the participants and whose work was recognised with a trophy.

After the ceremony, a fellowship lunch was held for participants, instructors, and collaborators, bringing together nearly 500 people on the sports complex's indoor multi-sport court.
