The entire Corporation supports granting ‘Ciutat de Benidorm Cultural Distinction’ to Dr. Eusebi Chiner
The full definitively and unanimously approves the PRI of Casino hotel
The plenary session of Benidorm has today approved unanimously the Interior Reform Plan (PRI) of the hotel designed by Convalesa mercantile next to Casino Mediterráneo, once the document has not received allegations during the public exhibition phase. The City Councilor, Lourdes Caselles, recalled that this PRI was the first to be presented based on the timely modification of the General Plan of 'Hotel Incentivation', an urban tool with which "we continue to increase the quality of our hotel plant" without neglecting "the general interest".
Thus, the update of the PRI made possible today raises "an increase and expansion of the rooms compared to those collected in the initial project". Specifically, it plans to “go from 232 to 247 rooms and adding two more floors, until reaching 37”.
Caselles recalled that in its day the company already gave two meters of facade for the increase of public sidewalks, so now it has been proceeded to assess the economic compensation that the company will have to pay the City Council for that increase in buildability. The technicians have valued that compensation at 140,568.77 euros, money that will be allocated "to municipal land assets for the acquisition of the endowment land marked in the General Plan".
With the same result, the plenary has agreed to grant to the doctor of Medicine Eusebi Chiner i Vives the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm', which is delivered annually on October 9, coinciding with the celebration of the Valencian Community Day, thus collecting the proposal of the Commission in charge of this distinction, composed of the winners of previous editions.
Beyond "his outstanding training and work activity", it has been considered that Eusebi Chiner is deserving of this award for various reasons, including "research and dissemination of various aspects related to Benidorm and the Marina region" included in numerous books and articles, published since the early 90s, and in which he has addressed history, culture, traditions and health aspects. In addition, he has collaborated in the creation of the website ‘Diccionari de Benidorm’ in medicine and related subjects; and in the exhibitions ‘la Mare de Déu del Sofratge’ and ‘Les Sènies’; Commissioned the exhibition ‘The Merchant Marine in Benidorm. The legacy of our sailors ’; and yielded several textile pieces for Casa Museu Hort de Colón.
Likewise, recently and with the work 'History of the Spanish Society of Shipwreck Rescue and its relationship with Benidorm', he has been the winner of the first edition of the naval historical research prize of the province of Alicante 'Miguel Llinares Barceló' . In different years, Eusebi Chiner, recognized as ‘Exemplary Neighbor’ in 2017, has proclaimed Festa de Sant Antoni, les Festes Majors Patronals, the Nadal, the Charter of Population and the Solstici d’estiu.
Also with the vote in favor of the entire Corporation, the agreement of the Board of Spokesmen for the awarding of the Tourism Award 'City of Benidorm' to the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur), to the State Society for Management has been endorsed of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segittur) and the company Microservices, in the International, National and Local / Autonomous categories respectively. In addition, the agreement includes awarding the Special Mention of these awards to the director of the municipal Design Department, Alejandro Guijarro Carbonell, who recently died. Prizes that have been delivered during an institutional event held this noon in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council.
With these awards, Benidorm recognizes the trajectory of Fitur, the first annual meeting for world tourism professionals, which in 2020 will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and in which Benidorm has been present since its inception. It also distinguishes the role of SEGITTUR in promoting technological innovation applied to the Spanish tourism sector, being one of those responsible for Standard UNE 178501, which regulates Smart Tourism Destinations Management System, in which Benidorm has been the First destination to be certified worldwide.
At the local level, the City Council rewards the contribution of Microservices by facilitating the work to numerous companies in the tourism sector for which prevention and health control is, in addition to a legal requirement, a sample of its quality. Finally, it recognizes Alejandro Guijarro's contribution to the image and tourism promotion of Benidorm through the design, projection and construction management of the destination stands for national and international tourism fairs; as well as those linked to the design of the urban scene of the city.
Also unanimously, the plenary session has approved a 95% discount on the Constructions, Installations and Works (ICIO) Tax on public school works.
