Exhibition '60 years of events' in the Bullring of Benidorm
The '60 years of events' exhibition held on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the Benidorm Bullring can now be visited from today until next Friday, July 8, at Espai d'Art in the Town Hall lobby. An exhibition that collects a broad summary of its history.
The exhibition has been organized by the recently created Círculo Taurino de Benidorm in collaboration with the departments of Culture and Plaza de Toros directed by Jaime Jesús Pérez and Jesús Carrobles
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, Jaime Jesús Pérez, the president of Benidorm Bullfighting Circle, Alfonso López, along with other members of the corporation and a large audience, has made a first tour of the exhibition made up of original posters, paintings, details and a summary video.
The structure of the arena will soon be renovated within the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) and will become a large "multidisciplinary complex", pointed out Toni Pérez. "A unique space in the city that we must protect and that Benidorm must never lose," he said, "a municipal public space that has witnessed the history of Benidorm in the last 60 years, hosting events and activities of all kinds".
For his part, Jaime Jesús Pérez has welcomed the bullfighting fans of Círculo Taurino and has encouraged them to "carry out many more activities" such as this exhibition that summarizes the sixty years of history of the Benidorm bullring.
Likewise, the president of Círculo Taurino has recalled that the entity was born "as a result of the pandemic" in the face of concern among bullfighting fans about the future of the bullring and so that it "does not disappear", recalling that they have Cultural, musical and sporting events of all kinds have taken place, in addition to having hosted successful evenings of the best swordsmen.
The city's Bullring was inaugurated on July 8, 1962, an initiative of the businessmen Alfonso Puchades (two of whose sons were present today at the event), Luis Alegre and José Barceló, with a mixed bullfight by the Marquis de Domecq. The rejoneadores Ángel and Rafael Peralta took part in it together with the matadors Paco Camino, Jaime Ostos and Juan García Mondeño.
The events of the 60th-anniversary of Benidorm Bullring will continue on Friday, July 8 with the conference 'The bulls: a living reality by Joaquín Moeckel Gil, lawyer and university professor expert in this field. It will be at Casa del Fester 'Diego Cano Enguera', at 8:00 p.m.
