Ermita de Sanz hosts the staging of 'La Tía Pepa Tona', by Peris Celda

05 July 2018
La Ermita de Sanz acoge la puesta en escena de ‘La Tía Pepa Tona’, de Peris Celda

Theater returns to Ermita de Sanz one more year with the performance of 'La Tía Pepa Tona', by Josep Peris Celda, in charge of the group of actors of the Commission of the Three Wise Men parade. This has been announced by the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, along with the director of the theater group, Magdalena Pérez, and the president of the association, Mercedes Requena.

Carrobles encouraged all residents "not only de la Huerta" to attend the fifth edition of 'Teatro en la Ermita' because "every year wins in quality and in public". It is the opportunity "to enjoy a different night, in which they will have a great time: they will laugh and they will be very well accompanied". The councilor thanked the effort of the entire committee because although "they are not professionals of the theater, they are happy to make it happen", as has been demonstrated in the previous editions of the event.

Magdalena Pérez, without revealing any of the plots, said about Peris Celda's work that it is a sainete "bilingual, in Spanish and Valencian, which will provoke very funny situations. One disaster after another but with a happy ending, " she said. For its part, Mercedes Requena thanked the City Council for its support and guaranteed that "those who come to the Hermitage, will have a very fun night".

'La Tia Pepa Tona', is one of Peris Celda's best known works. It is a classic of Valencian theater, a sainete costumbrista of the early twentieth century. It premiered in Valencia in 1918.
