Edwin de Vries and Elinor Kirk prevail in Benidorm Half Marathon
The rain could not with the thirty-fourth edition of the International Half Marathon of Benidorm and the 10K City of Benidorm that have been played on the evening of this Saturday. At 6.30pm, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, gave the kick-off of a race that brought together more than 2,000 athletes, half of them foreigners (mostly British) and who travelled along an urban route. Among the riders was the 1995 world champion Martin Fiz.
Classifications
In General Masculina the winner was the Dutchman Edwin de Vries, with a time of 1:08:15, ahead of Andrew Davies (1:08:39) and Jorge Bardisa (1:09:39). In the Women's General category, the British Elinor Kirk was the winner (1:20:14), followed by her compatriot Lauren Wilson (1:27:08) and the Spanish Sonia Tirado, of the Athletics Club Benidorm, in third place ( 1:32:20).
In the 10K he entered in first place Severino Felipe (0:32:17), after him Hamza Ard Joun Auared (0:33:13) and in third position Arturo Quijada (0:33:26). In the female category, the first place was for Yésica Mas (0:36:30), followed by Ann Selby (0.40: 47) and Irene Llario (0:43:19).
Regarding the local athletes, in the Men's Half Marathon, the first to cross the finish line was Juan Antonio Cantos (1: 2141); the second Rubén Caballero (1:16:03); and the third, Andrés Díaz (1:27:43). In Women, the first has been Sonia Tirado (1:32:20), followed by Rosa Llorca (2:07:29). In the 10K, the first place was for Vicente Moncho (0:36:47), followed by Juan Gilabert (0:38:01) and Juan Miguel Vallés (0:38:15). In feminine category, it has obtained the best time Ann Selby (0:40:47), followed by Cristina Gómez (0:43:53) and by Laura Mauri (0:46:39).
After the races took place the trophies in which participated, with Toni Pérez, the councilors of Sports, Arturo Cabrillo; Great Events, José Ramón González de Zárate; Youth, Ana Pellicer (who had also competed in the test); Bernardo Mira and Eugenio García. The queens of the Festes Majors Patronals 2018, Fátima Carrobles and Anna Calbo, accompanied by their ladies and the president of the Comissió, Paco Marín, presented medals to the athletes when they reached the finish line and also distributed part of the trophies.
