The economic impact of the Low Festival'17 is over 15.5 million euros

07 September 2017
El impacto económico del Low Festival’17 se sitúa por encima de los 15’5 millones de euros

The event is preparing for its tenth anniversary after closing the last edition with a record of attendees: 83,000 in four days

The economic impact of the 2017 edition of the Low Festival has exceeded 15.5 million euros, and could even amount to 17 million euros if we compute the impact of the media throughout the year and not only in the four months before the event. This is clear from the study made by the organization and given today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the promoter Jose Piñero in a press conference attended by the Councilor José Ramón González de Zárate, and the director of Low, Carolina Rodriguez.

Pérez said that Low attendees have spent almost 9.2 million euros on accommodation, catering, shops and services in Benidorm, while the impact in terms of promotion and publicity of the city in media and social networks has reached the 6.5 million euros in a quarter, according to Kantar Media, and could reach 8 if the year is evaluated.

The mayor stressed that in this ninth edition the Low has shown that "he is a very solid giant", as confirmed by his "record of attendees": 83,000 in the four days of the event. He also pointed out that criticism and articles in the media confirm that "we are in the right direction", and that the festival is "a good tourist showcase" and "a locomotive to publicize the city" among an audience which on average does not exceed 30 years.

The data published today also indicate that "more than half of the attendees come from outside the province, especially from Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid and Murcia"; that 23% of the lowers spend in Benidorm four days or more and that 72% makes it three days. In addition, 59% of attendees had previously been in the Low, and 91% want to return to Benidorm and the festival.

Piñero, meanwhile, has assured that "above the data are the sensations" and those of this Low talk about "the best edition" and a festival "that has nothing to envy any of Europe." The promoter has announced that "the new challenge" to mark the 10th anniversary "is to try to make the next Low even more", and overcome the 2017 edition. An edition that included Pixies, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, Mando Diao, Lori Meyers and Sidonie.

At the moment, and still without names in the poster, in one day the festival has already sold 5,000 tickets for its 2018 edition. An edition that, as Piñero has said, "is going to be very special" and for which already are discussing "some ideas".
