The employers' association of the Spanish digital industry, Ametic, celebrates tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council, a new edition, the fifth, of the 'Digital Tourist' congress, a reference meeting for those responsible for Tourist Destinations Smart.

The event, entitled 'From use cases to the Intelligent Platform for Destinations', will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences at a key moment for the sector to once again occupy the strategic economic and social role it had before the pandemic. Under this premise, the main issues of digital technologies that will be marked by the implementation of Component 14 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and how technology is key to gaining competitiveness in tourism will be discussed.

The event will be inaugurated tomorrow, Thursday, at 9:00 a.m. and will be attended by the president of Ametic, Pedro Mier, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, and the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez. For the closing of the congress, on Friday, the attendance of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has been announced.

Personalities and experts will take part in the congress, such as Enrique Martínez, president of Segittur; Francesc Colomer, Regional Secretary for Tourism; Alberto Palomo, from the Data Office of the Secretary of State for Digitization and AI; or Inmaculada de Benito, director of the CEOE Tourism Council, among others.

In total there will be 12 discussion tables that will be the common thread to learn about the real situation and the needs of the tourism sector caused by Covid-19. Thus, Benidorm will once again host a benchmark forum in the analysis of the transformation of smart tourist destinations and in the proposal of guidelines to follow for those who wish to trace a path marked by tourist intelligence.

The conclusions of this edition will be collected by the president of Segittur Enrique Martínez, the general director of Ametic, Francisco Hortigüela, and the president of the Ametic Smart Cities Commission, Adolfo Borrero.
