Tragantúa obtains the first special prize of the public; Cruz Blanca, the one with the traditional tapa / pincho; and La Mejillonería, the best original skewer
Delivery of the prizes of Tapas and Pinchos Contest of Benidorm in its eighth edition
The awards of the eighth edition of the Tapas and Pinchos Contest in which 26 establishments of the city have competed, have been delivered this afternoon at the municipal building of El Torrejó. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, who also holds the Tourism delegation, has participated in the delivery of the awards along with other members of the corporation, in addition to the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico 2018, Antonio Barco and the president of the bar association and restaurants (Abreca-Cobreca), Javier del Castillo.
Toni Pérez thanked the involvement of the 26 establishments in the creation of these tapas and pinchos, "delight of the Spanish culture". Fact that has been rewarded with some "excellent results of participation of the public". The contest has said that it is "the most important product of all Benidorm Gastronómico" and that it contributes "from gastronomy happiness" to all those who have the opportunity to enjoy its flavors and presentations. The mayor has also highlighted the commitment to the new technologies of the organization, in line with "the initiative of Benidorm to become the first Smart Tourist Destination of Spain" (DTI), and has set the example of the momentum given to the 'app 'Gastro-events that have allowed users to participate and transmit ratings to the participating establishments.

With respect to the prizes, the first special prize of the public has fallen to Tragantúa, for its creation 'Al Aire', the second has been for Margem Restobar and the third for La Cava Aragonesa. The first prize for the original tapa or pincho has been for La Mejillonera, for 'Brisa de Mar'; the second for La Barra and the third for Terra Atlantica. Finally, the first prize for the tapa or traditional skewer has been won by Cruz Blanca with 'Surprise of crispy acorn-fed Iberian pork; the second one has gone to Vinomio and the third one 'ex aquo' has been distributed by Tapas 18 and La Tabernita del Sur. The professional jury was composed of Daniel Frías, Mª Luisa Martín, Lluís Ruiz, José Puentes and Antonio Barco.
Finally, prizes have been drawn up among the users of gastro-events. The dinners for two people have been for Lala Bathir and Juan Vizcaíno. The two-night hotel stay for Alex 602. The visit to Bocopa wineries, for Cristina Medrano and the visit to Enrique Mendoza winery for Rosa Vieyra.
