The Equality department has prepared an extensive program to commemorate International Women's Day

A conference-concert and an Escape Room, prelude to a week full of events for 8-M

Benidorm fully enters this week in the commemoration of March 8, International Women's Day. But first, and as a prelude, this weekend there have been two activities organized by the Department of Equality. The first, on Friday, was an informative activity that had the collaboration of the Culture area: the conference-concert 'Mujer: Música y Ciencia', in which Gema Martínez Navarrete reviewed and profiled some of the most relevant female figures in the world. of science throughout history, to which María Eugenia Palomares Atienza provided a soundtrack from the piano. This activity, attended by the Councilor for Equality and the Councilor for Culture, Ángela Zaragozí, and Jaime Jesús Pérez, among others, filled the multipurpose room of the cultural center.

The cultural center was also the scene of the second activity of the weekend on the occasion of 8-M: an Escape Room, in which the participating people had to sharpen their ingenuity to solve the enigma that allowed them to leave the room. Around a hundred people faced 'The archive of the forgotten', the proposal designed by PortGenius and which was developed in eight passes.

The commemorative program for International Women's Day continues on Tuesday, March 7, with the concert 'Mujeres composoras' by the students of the 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Professional Conservatory of Music, which will take place in the auditorium of the Cultural center.
On the 8th, International Women's Day, will begin at 10:00 am with the placement of the commemorative banner on the balcony of the Town Hall. At noon the exhibition 'Myself' by the illustrator Sandra Prim will open, which will be in the Espai d'Art of the City Council until March 17. The Anémona association has organized a community lunch at the Yacht Club and registration can be done at the association's own headquarters. At 5:00 p.m. Mujeres 2000 programmed the play 'Laughter is the best medicine' at the La Torreta social center and at 6:30 p.m. the Association of Housewives prepared the 'Tribute to Women of Benidorm' at the Casa del Fester of poetry and song.

The following day there will be a conference entitled 'Woman, work and health' by Dr. Eva Ibeas at the Casa del Fester at 7:00 p.m. On March 10 at 8:00 p.m. the 'Music for Women' concert will take place in the City Hall Assembly Hall and on Saturday 11 a self-defense workshop has been organized at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The events will conclude on March 20 with the Red Cross exhibition 'Women of the world', in which the Department of Equality collaborates. It will be in the Espai d'Art of the Town Hall and can be visited until March 31.

In addition, the Equality department collaborates, outside of the programming, with the IES Pere María Orts in the Solidarity Course that is held this Tuesday at 12:00.
