08 April 2017
La Comissió de Festes Patronals abre la primera Fira de Pasqua de Benidorm

The show offers a weekend of traditional products, gastronomy and folklore

The first edition of the Fira de Pasqua organized by Commission of Festes Majors Patronals, in collaboration with the department of Fiestas, opened its doors this morning at the confluence of Gambo and Martínez Alejos streets. Throughout the weekend the neighbors and visitors will have at their disposal a selection of typical products of the land and an interesting gastronomic offer.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez and the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Anna Galiana and Àngela Antón have inaugurated the event after 11.30 in the morning in an event in which were also present the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the senator, Agustín Almodóbar; the President of the Commission, Antonio Vicente Fuster; the Association of Penyes, Mariano Nájera and representatives of municipal political groups and associations of the city.

With the rhythm of the xirimita and the tabal, the authorities and the maximum representatives of the Festes Majors have visited the 35 stalls installed where you can find products of the regions of the South of the Comunitat Valenciana, typical craft or taste traditional rices. On the other hand, on the occasion of the celebration of Easter, the Comissió de Festes has also put on sale the classic palms for the processions that will take place tomorrow, Palm Sunday, in the different parishes of the city.

After the inauguration has acted the Colla Corball de l'Alacantí. Its members dressed in their white shirts and red bands, following the melody of the xirimita, have made human towers ('turrets' or 'muixerangues') and have performed the Bastons Dance.
