The Comissió de Festes will visit Santiago de Compostela to pay homage to the patron of Benidorm
They will be received in the Council of Compostela by the mayor and will participate in the Mass of the Pilgrim on Saturday
The Commission of Festes Majors Patronals, in collaboration with the Department of Fiestas, have organized a cultural trip, from 1 to 3 September, to Santiago de Compostela city where, according to the tradition, the tomb of the apostle Santiago el Mayor is, Sant Jaume, patron of the city of Benidorm.
The councilman of Festivities, Jesús Carrobles, accompanied by the Queens, Anna Galiana and, Àngela Antón; the president of the Comissió de Festes, Antonio Vicente Fuster, has presented this morning the initiative that aims to "know the city where our patron is represented," said the councillor. It should be remembered that other trips to destinations such as Barcelona have been organized, where a replica of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge is located in the Church of Sant Miquel de la Barceloneta. This pilgrimage, has pointed Carrobles, could be a precedent to incorporate in the schedule of activities of the Commission.
The entourage of Benidorm will also be formed by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the queens, courts of honor, members of the commission and a group of citizens. Antonio Vicente Fuster has said he will leave early Thursday afternoon towards Santiago. Once in destination, guided visits to the museum, treasure, roofs of the cathedral and the Town Hall, where the entourage of Benidorm will be received by the first mayor of the city of Compostela, Martiño Noriega.
For the President of the Commission the main item of the trip will be the participation of the delegation from Benidorm in the 'Mass of the Pilgrim' on Saturday 2, officiated by Archbishop Julian Barrio, where they will witness "the flight of the botafumeiro" and will they will be wearing the typical dress to make a floral offering to the saint. For her part, the Queen, Anna Galiana has indicated that she wants "to be an unforgettable trip" and "to enjoy the mass and the offering to the fullest" and the little Queen, Angela Antón, pointed out, "that it is very beautiful ".
