Citizen Security will launch a special plan to control that crowds do not occur
The Benidorm City Council will attend the request transferred by the Parish Council and will grant Julio Iglesias auditorium of Parque de l'Aigüera for the celebration of the masses that the ecclesiastical body will organize on November 8 and 9 in honor of the patrons, the Mare de Déu del Sofratge and Sant Jaume. This has been reported today at a Board of Spokespersons in which the councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, has also participated and in which the mayor, Toni Pérez, has reported that this decision has been adopted so that "the development of these masses , which usually bring together many people from Benidorm, it is carried out with the maximum guarantees and there are no problems of capacity, access or crowds in the parish of Sant Jaume i Santa Ana ”.
Carrobles, for his part, recalled that "Julio Iglesias auditorium is fully adapted to the guidelines and health regulations for the development of outdoor shows, so the Parish Council has understood that it is the most appropriate venue." The mayor has advanced that "the City Council will collaborate logistically, through technical services, in the assembly of the necessary infrastructure for these masses."
It has also clarified that "apart from these two homilies organized by the Parish Council, the City Council will not authorize the celebration of events during the days when Major Patron Festivities should be celebrated, nor will it authorize the opening of premises or festive venues ”.
"We are convinced - he stressed - that the behavior of people of Benidorma during those days will be exemplary, just as it has been on the dates when other festivals are celebrated in the city that have also been suspended due to the crisis health of the Covid-19 ”. In any case, the Department of Citizen Security will launch "a special plan to control that everyone complies with health guidelines and that there are no possible gatherings of people above the limit established by the authorities."
Waiving of the festive entities to their 2020 subsidies
The mayor recalled that Benidorm City Council is going to give the funds included in the 2020 budget for festive entities, 214,000 euros, to municipal aid to families. A decision that has been adopted in agreement with the festive entities, which have renounced their subsidies.
The 214,000 euros to be deducted from the Festival budget correspond to: 150,000 euros of nominative grant for the Commission of Festes Majors Patronals; 35,000 euros from the Associació de Penyes ‘Verge del Sofratge’; the 8,000 euros that we contribute annually to Beniardá festivities; and the 21,000 euros reserved for aid to festive entities in a competitive competition regime.
