The City Council grants with 40,000 euros to the Society for the Protection of Animals and Plants
For yet another year, Benidorm City Council has awarded an annual nominative grant of 40,000 euros to the Society for the Protection of Animals and Plants 'Marina Baixa' in response to the “direct collaboration” that the entity provides to the municipality “in the collection, custody, maintenance and veterinary care of the stray animals found in the city ”, as explained by the Councilor for Health, Mónica Gómez. This subsidy was increased to 40,000 euros during the last legislature.
The councillor has indicated that "this collaboration, added to the informative work in favor of respect and care for animals, make the entity worthy of this subsidy, with which the costs of care for abandoned animals that are collected from public roads". In this regard, Gómez recalled that "the Municipal Environmental Ordinance considers the abandonment of domestic animals to be a‘ very serious offense ’, punishing these behaviors with fines of up to 900 euros."
After the Local Government Board (JGL) approved this grant today, the relevant agreement will be signed in the next few days.
