Christmas Day rain leaves up to 48 liters per square meter in Benidorm

26 December 2025
La lluvia del día de Navidad deja hasta 48 litros por metro cuadrado en Benidorm

The latest episode of rainfall recorded yesterday, Thursday, in Benidorm resulted in up to 48 liters per square meter collected in the city, with no significant incidents or damage reported. This was announced today by Mayor Toni Pérez and the Councilor for the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, who explained that “generally speaking, the hydraulic infrastructure once again performed very well under these rains, which fell almost continuously throughout the day but were never intense or torrential.”

Measuring points in the city center (ETAP) and the western area (El Murtal) recorded a total accumulation of 44 litres per square meter on Christmas Day, while in Rincón de Loix the accumulated rainfall reached 48 litres per square meter. The mayor also highlighted that, according to data provided by the Consortium, some inland municipalities in the Marina Baixa region have recorded rainfall levels double those of Benidorm, which will be very beneficial for replenishing aquifers and improving the resources of our reservoirs.

"We can speak of an episode of intense rainfall, but one that in Benidorm has proceeded without incident, resulting in very positive accumulated rainfall totals for the city, our gardens, and our streets, and without any negative consequences for the population," they concluded.
