La niña Sandra Moreno Martorell ha recitado el verso junto a la cruz de término, adornada de flores por las mayoralas de La Creu
The celebration of La Creu Festival marks the beginning of the month of May in Benidorm
Benidorm has started the month of May, as is traditional, with the celebration of the Festa de La Creu, which has aroused the interest of hundreds of people who have gathered next to the Terminus Cross, located at the beginning of Emilio Ortuño Avenue to listen to the verse that the girl Sandra Moreno Martorell recited this year. A cross that last night was decorated in flowers, a task that is carried out by the Comissió Festa La Creu members year after year.
The festive day began at 8:00 a.m. with a general ringing of the bells in the Sant Jaume i Santa Anna church. At around 11:00 a.m. a procession of festive entities and authorities made a pilgrimage from the church to the foot of La Creu, where the parish priest of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna blessed the municipal area. It was a pilgrimage followed by hundreds of people throughout its journey.
Among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros; members of the municipal corporation; Senator Agustín Almodóbar; the regional deputy José Ramón González de Zárate; the senior and child queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Valentina Almodóbar and Laia Zamora, along with her ladies; representatives of the Commission and the Penyes Association, as well as the members of the Festa de La Creu.
After the blessing of the municipal area and the verse, the procession left again for the church of Sant Jaume, where the traditional offering of flowers and a mass were held. In the afternoon a concert will be at 7 p.m. by Societat Musical La Nova in the Óscar Esplá auditorium. On Friday a mass for the dead at 7 p.m. in the church of San Jaime will put an end to the celebrations
