Caselles: “The waste management file is complete and without any objections”

The spokesperson for the Benidorm government team, Lourdes Caselles, stressed today that “the file for the provision of the urban solid waste collection and street cleaning service is complete and that is why it is being submitted to the plenary session”. Caselles responded this way to the note issued today by the socialist group, also stressing that the file that the plenary session will vote on arrives at the session “without any objections from the Audit department”.

Caselles explained that “during processing the file, discrepancies arose between the Economic and Engineering areas regarding the costs of the service or the price of the tonne”; discrepancies that “were answered in the last Engineering report, dated the previous day, as the intervenor herself conveyed to the Corporation groups on Friday at the Spokespersons’ Meeting”.

Consequently, “the file was complete and the matter could go to the plenary session”, since in the previous days “the only suspensive objection had already been resolved, approving the corresponding budgetary modification to cover the costs of the service pointed out by the technicians”. At this point, she pointed out that “although the PSOE loves to blame Toni Pérez for everything that happens, the price of the garbage service is not set by the mayor, but by the technicians who are the ones who know the details of the service and its cost”.

The popular spokesperson stressed that “there is no report from the Economic area that opposes the file being raised to the plenary session or that indicates that it cannot be voted on and approved”, after which she criticized the PSOE for “once again wanting to deceive the citizens, once again demonstrating that it is a toxic and fallacious opposition”. He also criticised the PSOE for “not asking the technicians anything at the two Spokespersons' Meetings held to address this matter”, which was decided today by the information commission.

Caselles was blunt in stating that “this local government does not adopt resolutions or take matters to the plenary session without the support of municipal technicians, something that, given what the press reports today, the PSOE cannot say about its years at the head of the City Council”.
