The government spokesperson recalls that the socialists “did not take any steps to solve the situation for many years and the PP had to begin regularisation”

Caselles: “The PSOE knows perfectly well that the hotels that benefited from the incentive have completed their PRI or are in the process of doing so”

Lourdes Caselles del Partido Popular

The local government spokesperson, Lourdes Caselles, has accused the socialist group and its deputy spokesperson of “once again lying” and has stated that with their accusations “they are disrespecting not only the businessmen and citizens of Benidorm but also the municipal technicians”.

Caselles’ statements have their origin in the press release of the socialist group today in which they criticise the fact that six hotel establishments in the city have not compensated the City Council for more than 20 years after having accepted the specific modification number of the PGOU of the year 2001 that allowed four and five-star hotels with open construction to increase their use up to 40% without it being counted as an increase in the building capacity. In exchange, the hotels had to compensate the council with land for public facilities or money.

“The deputy spokesperson for the PSOE has no qualms about lying because he knows, as does his group, the situation of the hotels that benefited from the hotel incentive” said the popular spokesperson, who added that “they know perfectly well that some have completed the corresponding Internal Reform Plan (PRI) and that others are in the drafting or processing phase”. “Therefore, it is completely false that no action has been taken” concluded Caselles.

The councillor, however, wanted to remember that “during the period of the PSOE's mandate in the city, it is true that they did not take any steps in this regard” and she specified that “it was Toni Pérez who began to demand that the establishments regularise the situation”. Demands that have culminated in “some having already completed the PRI and others being in the process” reiterated Caselles.

“The PSOE lies and unfortunately that is what they have accustomed us to. They are trying to spread a continuous lie and have no respect for the people of Benidorm or its officials," the spokesperson concluded.
