The funds raised will be used to organize the festival to be held in January
The 'Cagà de la Burra' returns to the Hermitage of Sanz thanks to the Sant Antoni Commission

The Ermita de Sanz, in the heart of La Huerta de Benidorm district, hosted today, for the fourth consecutive year, the so-called "Cagà de la Burra" (Donkey's Cagà), a fundraising event by the Comissió (Commission) for the festival to be held in January. The event began at 10:00 a.m. and included bar service at affordable prices, sandwiches, drinks, traditional "bollos a la paleta" (breaded donkeys), afternoon music, and all-day fun.
This fundraising initiative first emerged in Benidorm in 2014, when one of the members of the Sant Antoni Commission that year, José Fuster, suggested dividing a piece of land into small, numbered plots where the animal would be placed. The plots are numbered, and residents can purchase tickets with the numbers. The prize goes to whoever buys the ticket corresponding to the number of the plot where the donkey makes its final bowel movements.
As stated in the contest's sole rule, the winning plot is the one with the greatest amount of excrement in the animal's first bowel movement. It is even stated that a scale will be used if necessary. Today, Saturday, from 10 a.m., residents and members of the Sant Antoni Commission, chaired by Irene Maris, worked hard to enjoy another great day in harmony, waiting to see which of the 500 plots the donkey decides to relieve herself in.
A new feature this year was a breakfast menu with sandwiches, salad, coffee, and shots, priced at €12 per ticket. The Commission also offered a paella tasting.
