The best painting will be awarded with 1000 euros, with another 1000 the best sculpture and with 100 the best author under 18 years
The twenty-eighth edition of New Creators contest can already be visited at Boca del Calvari Museum where it has been inaugurated this morning by the Youth councilor, Ana Pellicer, accompanied by municipal expert, Josep Romeu.
In the present edition 22 artists participate that exhibit 30 works with different techniques. Twenty paintings and ten sculptures will compete for the awards. Pellicer recalled that there will be three: "One for the best sculpture, 1,000 euros; another for the best painting, 1,000 euros too; and another 100 for the best author under 18 years old. "
The councilwoman of Youth considers that the change of location with respect to previous editions, from Espai d'Art, in the hall of the Town Hall, to Boca Calvari museum allows to enjoy the works of art even more. "It is an ideal space," she said, "because it allows for a better exposure of the works and for the great influx of public" that pass by the museum daily.
Josep Romeu, for his part, highlighted the participation of young creators "from all the autonomous communities" in Spain, also "authors from Benidorm" and that this time, the contest will be extended one week more than it was originally planned, "until February 12, "although the jury formed by representatives of the creative world of Benidorm and the Youth department will make public its verdict and will deliver the awards on Friday, February 3, at 12.30 in Boca del Calvari. The winning works will become municipal property, the rest can be collected after the closure of the show by the authors.
