27 January 2024
Fitur Latinoamerica

Madrid International Tourism Fair, Fitur, has once again confirmed the interest aroused by Benidorm's tourism model and management as the first certified Intelligent Tourist Destination (SID), especially among consolidated or emerging destinations in Latin America. On Friday, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao, held several meetings with tourism officials from Paraguay, Montevideo (Uruguay) and Cancún (Mexico).

Thus, both met with the Minister of Tourism of Paraguay, Angie Duarte, and her team; with the president of the city of Cancún, Ana Patricia Peralta, and Juan Pablo de Zulueta, secretary of tourism; and with the director of Tourism of Montevideo, Fernando Amado, Karina Fortete, from the Tourism division of the Municipality of Montevideo, and Alejandro Mullor, the Global Tourism Lead of Microsoft.

The mayor explained that “this interest and these contacts are a consequence of the different training that the Visit Benidorm manager has given in tourism forums held in Latin American cities and to which we have been invited to participate, especially in 2023, to present the tourism model. of Benidorm and our experience in the implementation and management of the DTI”. Specifically, Benidorm has been present in Montevideo, Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Guatemala and Medellín (Colombia).
