Benidorm’s Municipal Technical Services have carried out more than 500 interventions on public roads so far this year
Most of the work has focused on the Old Town and areas with the highest levels of pedestrian traffic
More than 500 interventions and repairs on public roads have been carried out by the Municipal Technical Services so far this year. These are generally minor works to repair damage caused by the high volume of pedestrian traffic in certain areas. This was highlighted this morning by Councillor for Urban Scene Francis Muñoz, who visited some of the works being carried out in the Old Town.
The councillor nevertheless stressed that not all the work carried out is recorded because “many issues are identified by the workers themselves and dealt with immediately, without a work report being filed”. In general, he said, “these are repairs to public roads, mostly in the Old Town, in places with heavy pedestrian traffic that require attention 365 days a year”. Most of the work has been concentrated on Tomás Ortuño Street, Paseo de la Carretera, the Castell viewpoint and the small square, Virgen del Sufragio Street, Alcoy, Madrid and Armada Española avenues, the ceramic paving along Poniente Beachfront and Levante Beachfront. “In total, more than 500 interventions have been carried out in the city’s urban area during these months of 2026,” Muñoz stressed.
The Councillor for Urban Scene explained that the work carried out by the Municipal Technical Services teams is aimed at “preventing damage in areas with a high volume of pedestrian traffic, so it is an ongoing task, especially now during the summer season”. For this reason, he added, “there are currently three teams working simultaneously on the maintenance of pavements and paving, to prevent the deterioration that occurs at specific points and to ensure pedestrian safety”.
Francis Muñoz highlighted the “constant and ongoing work” carried out by the department’s staff, “which is now being reinforced in the most visited areas, such as the Old Town, Elche Park and the Levante and Poniente promenades”, while continuing to attend to other locations “where any work may be required”.
In this regard, the councillor reminded residents that a public assistance telephone line is available “so that they can notify us of any damage or repairs that may be needed”.
