It will be located at Plaza SSMM Reyes de España and starting at 7:00 p.m. it will feature a DJ, freestyle football exhibitions by Paloma Pujol and games

Benidorm will also be cheering on the Spanish national team this Friday from Iberdrola's official fan zone

Benidorm animará este viernes a la selección española también desde la ‘fan zone’ oficial de Iberdrola

The match against Italy, part of the group stage of the Euro Cup, will be broadcast on a giant screen

With the group stage of the Women's European Championship currently being played in Switzerland just around the corner, Benidorm is already preparing to watch the match this Friday, the 11th, at 9:00 PM, between the Spanish national team and Italy. Fans will also be able to follow the match from the "fan zone" that Iberdrola, in collaboration with the City Council, will set up at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, on a giant screen.

Fans of the national team who visit the "fan zone" will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences, including a DJ, freestyle football exhibitions by Paloma Pujol, a variety of games—such as table football, a photo booth, a screamometer, and a chutometer—and distribution of popcorn, national team training shirts, and many other merchandise items.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the sports councillor, Javi Jordá, expressed their conviction that "Benidorm, as always, will fully support this sporting event and will massively encourage and support Montse Tomé's players in their goal of conquering Europe, in a festive, convivial, and sport-promoting atmosphere."

For his part, Iberdrola's Institutional Delegate in the Valencian Community, Ibán Molina, encouraged all Benidorm residents and visitors to the city to "join this celebration of support for the women's national soccer team and to continue contributing together to the promotion of women's sports, which have brought us so much success and joy."

This is not the first time Iberdrola has mobilised to support the Spanish national team. As the company has noted, during the 2023 Australian and New Zealand Cup, where Spain earned its first star in the senior category, the electric company already organized fan zones in Valencia, Madrid, and Málaga to watch the group stage, as well as in Madrid, Valladolid, and Cádiz to experience the final.

For this European Championship, Benidorm was one of the three cities chosen by the company to install a fan zone during the group stage. Thus, the Spanish team's first match could be followed in the fan zone in Almería; the second in A Coruña; and the third match in Benidorm.

Nearly a decade of pioneering support for women's football

Iberdrola has emphasised its pioneering support for women's football, which dates back almost a decade. In August 2016, it became the main driving force behind women's football in Spain, giving its name to the League, which was renamed Primera Iberdrola.

Since then, the competition has gained increasing visibility, thanks to television coverage and the hosting of several matches in stadiums with maximum capacity.

Iberdrola is currently the main sponsor of the senior national team, the U-19 and U-17 national teams, as well as the Iberdrola Queen's Cup and the Iberdrola Super Cup, among other competitions. It also features players such as Alexia Putellas, the first Spanish winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022 and who also won The Best award in the same seasons, Irene Paredes, and Vicky López as members of its Iberdrola Ambassadors program. This initiative brings together 35 leading athletes who promote female visibility and leadership in sports, and the company seeks to give them the widest possible exposure in the media and social networks.
