Benidorm, through the Collective Aid Network will bring masks to those over 65 and people at risk, avoiding displacement

19 April 2020
Benidorm, a través de la Red de Ayuda Colectiva llevará mascarillas a los mayores de 65 años y personas de riesgo, evitándoles desplazamientos

Benidorm City Council activates the Collective Assistance Network (#RAC) for one more task: to collect the masks announced by the Generalitat Valenciana that will be available in pharmacies for people over 65 years of age and people at risk from Monday, and will They will deliver them to their homes to avoid unnecessary displacement and exposure, including probable crowds.

In order to arrange this new local volunteer service that is coordinated from Benidorm City Council, those interested in possessing the Generalitat's SIP health card must request the service, after confirming the availability of masks in their usual pharmacy, on the free phones of the Collective Aid Network: 900 701 322 and 900 10 12 15.

It is, noted the mayor Toni Pérez, of "one more benefit that is offered to citizens with ages or risk pathologies, from volunteering and local governance, to avoid exposing them to displacement and maintaining their confinement."

Pharmacies in Benidorm will distribute up to 3 masks from Monday to Friday, free of charge, among groups of citizens over 65 years of age and people vulnerable and at risk from the Covid-19 pandemic. On Tuesday the 14th, the Generalitat reached an agreement with the Valencian Community Pharmacy Colleges whereby the beneficiaries will receive the three initial masks at the pharmacy establishments in their locality, upon presentation of the SIP card.

The Ministry of Health, which until a few days ago only considered this protection measure useful for patients with mild symptoms, now recommends that it be worn by everyone in cases where the recommended safety distances between people cannot be respected: one meter minimum and if possible two.

The prescription of the masks is carried out through electronic prescriptions, at no cost to the beneficiaries, which are generated in the SIP card of people over 65 -including private mutualists (Muface, Isfas and Mugeju) - and those who suffer high health needs included in risk groups, according to the Official Gazette of the Generalitat on Wednesday, April 15.

#RAC volunteers, upon request from interested persons, will collect and deliver the assigned face masks to homes in Benidorm.
