Benidorm inicia el martes el nuevo colector de Esperanto, que completa la red hidráulica de la zona

Next Tuesday, September 8, the construction work of the new rainwater collector of Esperanto street begins, the last of those planned in the remodeling work of Mediterranean avenue and its surroundings with which the renovation of the hydraulic network of the area. The action "will be developed entirely on the road, in a section of about 50 meters located at the height of Gerona street and has an execution period of approximately two months", as explained by the Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate.

De Zárate explained that “in case of need, this new collector will allow us to divert part of the rainwater that reaches the upper part of Doctor Orts Llorca avenue to the l'Aigüera ravine, thus relieving the flow that usually reached the Avenida Mediterráneo and avoiding, therefore and definitely, the floods that occurred in this area when it rains heavily ”. The mayor has remarked that "we are now beginning this performance to anticipate possible episodes of cold front."

The construction of this collector will involve the temporary reorganization of traffic in the area, as a small section of Esperanto Street will be closed to traffic. Thus, vehicles coming from Mediterráneo Avenue that access Esperanto street must continue along Finestrat street. Only vehicles with a ford can access the closed area. This access will be made through the intersection of Esperanto with Doctor Orts Llorca, while the exit will be made through the recently renovated Mar street.
