Benidorm at the Spain Convention Bureau Assembly
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, is attending the Meeting and General Assembly of the Spain Convention Bureau from today in San Sebastián where the director of the Spanish Tourism Institute, Turespaña, has presented the Strategic Marketing Plan 2021-2024, aligned with the objectives of the Modernization and Competitiveness Plan of the Secretary of State for Tourism.
After this presentation, the issue was focused on meeting and conference tourism and a round table was held that analyzed the future of this modality in the so-called post-Covid era where destinations have exposed their new realities for this segment.
"Sustainability and digitization - the mayor has specified - have become the new tools for promoting destinations" and on these two aspects, in which Benidorm stands out, the second table has been developed, which has complemented the third focused on the process of building tourism brands, closing yesterday's program with the analysis of the needs of the professional sector.
Benidorm has positioned itself strongly in recent years in the MICE segment that encompasses the field of tourism for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Visit Benidorm Foundation has maintained in recent months an intense promotional work on congress and meeting tourism. The mixed promotion entity Visit Benidorm, has participated in different actions to promote the arrival of business tourists, highlighting its presence at Iberian Mice Forum in Sitges, MICE Peak in Valencia -with French buyers-, the International M&I Forum (Virtual ) and an exclusive Webinar on Benidorm organized by Punto MICE and in which more than fifty agencies participated. The Foundation, which participates in the meeting from the first day, plans to participate this year in the Pure Meeting & Events workshop in Paris, some direct sessions in Belgium, Germany and France and finally in the most important MICE fair, IBTM Barcelona on November 30. With this marathon of actions, Visit Benidorm reaffirms its commitment to the MICE segment.
Today in San Sebastián the new lines of work and the specific role of the Convention Bureau have been analyzed. After that, the Annual Assembly was held.
Spain Convention Bureau is the name of the Network of Congress Cities established within the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). Spain Convention Bureau (SCB) is a network of local entities that currently groups together 57 conference destinations. It was established in 1984 within the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), as a specialized section, with the name of the Spanish Section of Congress Cities. These 57 destinations spread throughout the Spanish geography, have sufficient human and technical resources for the organization of meetings and events, aimed at a minimum capacity of 500 people.
The professionalization of the service through the Congress Offices (Convention Bureaux), the diversity of the offer that brings together cities from all corners of the country, the experience in organizing large events and the cultural, natural and gastronomic resources inherent to each region, make up the hallmarks of the Spain Convention Bureau (SCB).
