Benidorm Skyfest will host the ‘Oro Viejo’ festival on August 1st, a tribute to dance and ‘remember’ music

Benidorm's summer event lineup is taking shape with this morning's presentation of a new music festival that aims to become a national benchmark. In addition to the already confirmed events at Chayanne's Skyfest, Latin Fest, and Benidorm Urban Summer Festival, the 'Oro Viejo' festival was announced today, taking place on August 1st. This tribute to dance and 'remember' music has been held for years in other autonomous communities such as Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, and now comes exclusively to Benidorm in the Valencian Community.
The new festival was presented by the Councillor for Events, Jesús Carrobles, the CEO of Skyfest Benidorm, and the promoter of 'Oro Viejo', José Luis Iravedra. All three agreed that it is a "leading musical event" that has established itself as "the biggest tribute to dance and 'remember' music in Spain." “Holding it in Benidorm, given its evolution, was the logical next step,” stated Iravedra. Jesús Carrobles, for his part, said that it is “a different proposal, very much our own, and one that complements the Skyfest project, which will continue to grow.”
Frattini expressed his conviction that the Skyfest venue “will position itself as a benchmark” and stated the goal of making it “friendly for both tourists and residents.” In that regard, he revealed that “noise will be very well controlled.” To this end, Councillor Jesús Carrobles announced that, in preparation for the events to be held at Skyfest this summer, “a preliminary acoustic audit of the space will be carried out, to optimise the venue's sound performance.” Similarly, a state-of-the-art sound system with a cardioid configuration will be installed, along with specific acoustic panels designed to minimise sound dispersion and prevent potential noise pollution issues in the surrounding area.
This festival, as Iravedra explained, is the brainchild of renowned DJ Nano, “who will be joined by more than 20 DJs playing ‘remember’ music from Spain, as well as artists and bands that have defined an era.” “Anthems that form part of a generation’s collective memory will be played. It will be an emotional experience featuring a spectacular show and top-notch production,” the promoter assured. ‘Oro Viejo’ will have several stages for DJs and live bands, “with an artistic approach that will allow us to offer a broad and diverse program, maintaining the festival’s identity and enhancing the audience experience.”
The Councillor for Events added that the City Council intends to reach the level of events like those held at Star Lite or IFEMA in Madrid. “That’s the leap we want to take, and we’re going to achieve it in just a few years,” he said. Carrobles also emphasised “the great effort being made to minimise disruption to residents” and stressed that events will end at 12:30 a.m. on weekdays and 2:30 a.m. on weekends.
“Benidorm will reinforce its position as a city open to major cultural and musical events and will consolidate its status as a leading destination for quality leisure experiences,” he concluded.
Regarding ticket sales, Iravedra announced that pre-registration opens today for those who wish to attend, and those who register will be able to purchase tickets at a reduced price. This pre-registration will be open for one week. General ticket sales will begin next Tuesday, February 10, at noon.
