Benidorm shows its devotion to the Santa Faz with the traditional mass and pilgrimage around the old town
Yesterday Benidorm celebrated the festivity of Santa Faz. The celebration began at 7 p.m. with a mass in the church of San Jaime, which was followed by the traditional pilgrimage through Alicante and Santa Faz streets in which several hundred devotees participated.
The religious ceremony in the church was attended by Mayor Toni Pérez and the Festival Councilor, Mariló Cebreros, as well as members of the municipal corporation. Also present were the senior and child queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Valentina Almodóbar and Laia Zamora, the president of the Commission, María Dolores Cano, the president of the Penyes Association, Jaime Cortés, and Francisco Llorens, president of the ACR La Barqueta, among other personalities and numerous faithful.
After the holy mass, the pilgrimage began, which started from the church and toured Alicante and Santa Faz streets in the old town of Benidorm, with the parish priest Juan Antonio González at the head of it, preceded by a group of 'xirimiters'. Behind them, the mayor, the queens and the rest of the authorities. During the procession, the traditional prayer was also carried out to the image of the Santa Faz, placed on a small altar.
