Benidorm reopens on July 1 municipal nursery schools with ratios of 75%

20 June 2020
Benidorm reabre el 1 de julio las escuelas infantiles municipales con ratios del 75%

The three municipal nursery schools in Benidorm and the Early Childhood Service (SAPI) resume their face-to-face activity on July 1, as reported by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, after meeting with the management teams of the centers. Following the instructions of the health authorities and the Regional Goverment for this return to activity, the ratio of students per classroom is established at 75%. Thus, there will be a maximum of 6 students in the 0-year-old nursery class; 9 minors, in those of P1; and 15 boys and girls in 2-year-olds.

Moreno pointed out that "due to the new ratios, in the event that all places are filled, minors whose two parents are currently working will have priority to return to the classroom." On the other hand, and to guarantee that access to the centers is done in a staggered manner, "the time of entry and exit is made more flexible." Thus, the entry time will be from 08:00 to 10:00 and the exit from 13:00 to 15:00; while "the dining room service will be adjusted to demand".

The Councilor for Education recalled that "all the nursery schools in the municipal network are preparing, with the advice of the City's Occupational Risk Prevention technician, a Contingency Plan to adapt the facilities and their operation to the instructions of the Ministry, and thus guarantee compliance with all safety and hygiene measures ”.

Moreno has indicated that "from the City Council we are planning and organizing the progressive reactivation of educational services that depend exclusively on the local administration, as well as the implementation of plans or activities aimed at the child population of Benidorm such as the Educational Support Program Summer School (PAEV) or summer sports courses, actions more necessary than ever if we take into account the educational, emotional, physical and psychological effects that the closure of schools has had on minors since last March 13.
