In addition to the renovation works of the hydraulic infrastructure in the Marina Alta and Baixa avenues, Benidorm City Council will also start next Monday the renovation and adaptation of the drinking water and sewage network in the streets near Callosa street
The action, which has favourable reports from the municipal department of Engineering, has a budget of 203,314.60 euros and will be financed by Hidraqua Investment Fund, the concessionaire company of the Comprehensive Water Management in the city.
This intervention will cover the streets Callosa d'en Sarrià, Orxeta, La Nucía and Sella and the guidelines will focus on the previous works and demolitions, the drinking water distribution network, the sanitation and rainwater networks and the subsequent replacement of pavements, improving accessibility and signage. The estimated time of execution of this work is three months and the budget amounts to 209,314.60 euros.
The project contemplates "the renovation and integral adaptation of the existing or necessary pipes in the surroundings of Callosa Street and the replacement of the services affected by the works", explained the Councilor for Works and the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, which has also pointed out that these works "will solve current problems, such as the existence of asbestos-cement pipes in the conduction of drinking water, the problem of connecting rainwater to the collector of the ravine of l'Aigüera and the renovation of the pipe of sanitation, which is very deteriorated and now runs along a sidewalk of the street, this line will be transferred to the road.
"The work and the completion will comply with the regulations of universal accessibility to the urban environment", the mayor specified. On this avenue there are also asbestos-cement pipes that will be changed "and at the same time work will be done on the sewage system, which is very deteriorated and needs intervention."
Once the underground infrastructures have been renovated, part of the sidewalk and road will be paved "where the sidewalks will be resized and non-slip material and approved railings will be placed to improve and benefit pedestrian traffic."
González de Zárate has detailed that when the works are finished "everything will be renewed in drinking water, sewage, rainwater, new trees and improved the entire urban landscape from Beniardá avenue to L'Aigüera avenue".
“We continue deepening our commitment to improving the city's hydraulic infrastructures, as we have been doing for years. We are not only renovating the subsoil infrastructure, but we are gaining in accessibility and improving the mobility of people and the urban landscape, since all the works we carry out comply with current universal accessibility regulations for the urban environment”, he stated.
The councilman, finally, has asked the residents of the neighbourhood "a little patience" "because we are acting for the good of the neighbourhood and this area." He has also pointed out that these streets have arcades "so you can walk under them." He also added that the improvements will be made in the fords "but here we also ask for patience in case the owners have to take their vehicles out for three or four days or leave them in their parking."
