Benidorm reiterates its rejection of gender violence with a minute of silence
Representatives of all local political groups, public workers and neighbors of Benidorm, have shown their rejection of gender violence with a minute of silence at noon today, at the front door of the town hall headed by Mayor Toni Perez.
Benidorm and showed its aversion to the death of a woman in Olivares, a town in Seville ,allegedly by her partner who stabbed her in her home. The women of Dominican origin and mother of two children, had requested a restraining order that unfortunately was denied. The assailant was arrested shortly after by the Civil Guard and brought to justice.
With this case, there are now 34 women who have lost their lives so far this year in Spain because of male violence, a figure that could be increased if the six cases which remain in investigation are confirmed. From the department of Equality of the City Council have reminded all women who feel attacked, the existence of the number of call against gender violence free, the 016, which leaves no trace on the phone bill.
