Benidorm receives 300,000 euros from the Provincial Council for vulnerable families
Benidorm City Council has received a grant of 300,000 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante to help families in vulnerable situations, increase the staff of municipal social services, and care for refugees from Ukraine. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, explained that "this subsidy is part of the call for subsidies for social benefits for extraordinary situations launched by the provincial institution" and "comes to reinforce care and aid programs in which the City Council works throughout the year".
Zaragozí indicated that "with this line of aid, Alicante Provincial Council comes to complement the efforts made by the Department of Social Welfare to deal with situations of need that the residents of Benidorm who are going through moments of difficulty may present and vulnerability; a budgetary effort with which we are trying to ensure that all these people have decent living conditions”.
According to the bases of the call, these funds can guarantee vulnerable families sufficient income for their needs such as the acquisition of necessities, rental expenses, or energy supplies.
This aid will also serve to cover part of the expenses derived from caring for refugees from Ukraine in a situation of great vulnerability, such as temporary accommodation or translation services, or Spanish learning services that are made available to them. The call also includes the use of funds to increase the staff of the Department and thus improve care and help vulnerable people.
As established by the call of the Provincial Council of Alicante, these 300,000 euros will cover expenses related to social benefits for extraordinary situations carried out between October 21, 2022, and October 30, 2023.
