The works executed and financed by the water concessionaire have involved an investment of nearly 21,000 euros
Benidorm operates in Oviedo Street waste network to eliminate water leaks and odor problems
Benidorm City Council, through the water and sewerage concessionaire -Hidraqua-, has acted on the wastewater network in Oviedo Street to eliminate the problems of leaks and bad odors that occurred in the area because of the deterioration of the pipes.
The Councilor for Water, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that after the inspections carried out by the municipal services, "we have opted for the replacement of the deteriorated collector, of concrete, with a new one of PVC, which is more resistant to the agents abrasives from wastewater. " In addition to the installation of the new collector, three manholes have been executed for its maintenance and also five new connections to the adjoining buildings.
De Zárate has indicated that the cost of the action has been around 21,000 euros, fully assumed by the concessionaire of the service, and has indicated that "this work was necessary and urgent because the leaks caused by the poor state of the network had affected the pavement of the street and damaged the masonry wall that separates Oviedo and Montbenidorm streets ".
The replacement works began in mid-December and, after the hiatus of the Christmas holidays, have concluded this week with the asphalting of the section of street affected by the works.
