Benidorm launches a new call for grant to boost entrepreneurial projects
The local Governing Board approves the terms of the call for applications, with a budget of 78,000 euros to support self-employed individuals and companies that have started their activity this year
Those interested can apply for the grant until December 31st
The Department of Employment and Local Promotion of Benidorm City Council has announced a new round of direct grants for new self-employed individuals and businesses that have started operations this year. The Local Governing Board has approved an expenditure of €78,000 to fund the program, as well as its regulations, with the aim of “promoting the launch of new businesses in the city,” explained Councillor Mónica Gómez.
The councillor specified that there are two types of grants available, one of €700 and another of €1,000, and that these “provide support for people starting their own professional activity in Benidorm.” In this regard, Gómez emphasised that “one of the main objectives of these grants is economic development, the promotion of self-employment, and the creation of jobs for our residents.”
The terms of this call for applications stipulate that applications can be submitted from the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) until December 31 of this year, through the Electronic Office (https://sede.benidorm.org), where applicants must also upload all required documentation.
To be eligible for this funding, applicants must register as self-employed, with their tax domicile in Benidorm, between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026, and have commenced their economic activity within that period. They must also be registered in the Taxpayer Registry and the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers before submitting their application, but must not have been registered in the three months before the commencement of their business activity.
Applicants also cannot have received this grant in either of the two previous years and must be registered residents of Benidorm or apply for a business license for premises located in the city. They must also be up-to-date with their tax obligations and social security contributions and have no outstanding debts with the Benidorm City Council.
Regarding the amount of aid, as mentioned previously, it can be either €700 or €1,000. The €700 is intended for entrepreneurs registered residents of Benidorm who establish themselves as self-employed with their tax domicile in the city, but do not require a business license; as well as for entrepreneurs who are not registered residents of Benidorm but establish themselves as self-employed, with their tax domicile in the city, and apply for a business license from the Benidorm City Council.
Regarding the €1,000 grants, these are aimed at entrepreneurs who establish themselves as self-employed workers with their tax domicile in Benidorm, who are registered residents of the city, and who obtain a business license from the Benidorm City Council, as outlined in the terms and conditions.
A technical committee will be responsible for evaluating the applications and proposing the approval or rejection of the grants, as well as allocating the subsidised amounts.
80 projects with municipal support in 2025
Councillor Mónica Gómez has reported that last year, 2025, 80 entrepreneurial projects obtained this grant, reaching a total contribution of 64,700 euros and exceeding by more than 12,000 euros the aid granted the immediately previous year, which reached 52,500 euros for a total of 63 projects. Likewise, he explained that the hospitality industry was the main activity group that benefited from the call, followed by wholesale and retail trade and other services. Among them, personal image, construction, professional and technical activities, health services, education, manufacturing industries or cultural and sports activities, which, according to Gómez, "reveals the diversity of the entrepreneurial fabric of our city."
Regarding the distribution of this aid according to the profile of the beneficiaries, it presented a practical parity between men and women (47.5% and 52.5%, respectively), while, by age, the highest concentration of aid fell on people between 30 and 45 years old (45%).
Finally, the person in charge of Employment and Local Promotion has highlighted the "sensitivity and constant collaboration of this government with the local productive fabric and with entrepreneurship" and, together with this line of aid, has also given as an example "the different actions that we develop throughout the year through workshops, training courses or competitions, such as Entrepreneurial Ideas, and the resources to promote and promote self-employment, such as Espai Coworking."
