Once again the city of Benidorm has been participating with La Vuelta. Residents and tourists have taken to the streets to encourage and cheer the 176 runners in the second stage of the event, whose departure has been given by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Carlos Mazón.

A stage of almost 200 kilometers that has started at noon from Foietes Park and that has travelled the municipality of Benidorm along 10.5 kilometers, in a neutralized departure that has run through the streets Goya, Beniardá, Jaime I, Armada Española, Vicente Llorca Alós, Villajoyosa, Juan Pablo II and Alcalde Eduardo Zaplana until linking with La Nucia and ultimately arriving in Calpe after entering the interior of the province.

Throughout the morning, the influx of cycling and sports fans in general who have approached the Mercasa area to live closely the atmosphere of La Vuelta and see the 22 participating teams and the main teams test runners, that one hour before departure have gone through the Signature Control.

By then, the Advertising Caravan of La Vuelta was already touring the streets of Benidorm revitalizing the congregated public along the route, which throughout the day can be seen during the broadcast and summaries of the test in 190 countries of the world through The public television signal.

Before leaving, runners, authorities and the public have kept a minute of silence for the recent death of cyclist Bjorg Lambercht after suffering an accident on the Tour of Poland. In addition, a solidarity action has been carried out in favor of ‘Vicky's Dream’, an organization aimed at raising funds for research and the fight against childhood cancer. Likewise, the mayor and the Councilor for the Environment, Mónica Gómez, have participated together with the rest of the authorities in the action of Ecopilas to promote the recycling of batteries, depositing some used batteries in a portable container.
