Starting next May, Benidorm will have a new tool for promoting the destination aimed at an increasingly digitized public, the one that moves in the 'gamer' field, and with forecasts of expanding in the future to a more diverse sector of the population. large.
This is 'Benidorm Land', a pilot project created by the SIX3D platform that presents a version of immersive virtual reality where people can interact with digital objects and their avatars. "Today we make the jump into the metaverse," said Mayor Toni Pérez in the presentation of 'Benidorm Land', which took place in El Torrejó.
The event was also attended by the Councilor for Innovation, Aida García, the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao, the general secretary of Hosbec, Nuria Montes, and Francisco Juan, director of Invattur, among other personalities of the tourism sector.
The mayor highlighted that 'Benidorm Land' is "a very powerful new promotional tool" by which "adventures and experiences can be lived in Benidorm in an alternative reality without leaving home". With the new tool, "it will be possible to bring a benchmark in tourism closer to the Z generations (born at the beginning of the 21st century) and Alpha (born from 2010) and turn them into the tourists of the future".
Pérez recalled that Benidorm is the first certified DTI in the world and that “innovation and technology is one of the main points that mark our direction. We are willing to be at the level”. In this sense, the mayor has underlined that it will be "an interesting option to inspire and excite for the future trip, get to know Benidorm before travelling to find out what it is like, explore our tourist products, walk the streets and even fly over it".
In short, it will be an "opportunity" to reach 140 million users on STEAM, the gaming platform on which the SIX3D metaverse, including 'Benidorm Land' that will start in May. In fact, as Alberto Lozano, CEO of SIX3D, explained, it is only necessary to download the platform for free on the device and access the user 'Benidorm Land'.
SIX3D is a platform for the distribution and consumption of 3D content that allows any user to design their content and later integrate it into the platform. "The union of all experiences will be the metaverse" he specified.
In the field of tourism, Lozano stressed that "Benidorm is a pioneer in this type of experience because so far there is nothing like it in other places." The mayor, for his part, has stressed again that "it is a promotion tool linked to technology, which we use for the continuous improvement of the destination, in which we have been delving for some time" he concluded.
