The Benidorm International Music Course and Contest, which are celebrating their 33rd and 23rd edition respectively, start this Sunday, July 3, with the participation of more than a hundred students from six countries: Spain, Poland, Italy, England, Qatar and Kazakhstan.

The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has pointed out that "once again, thanks to this International Course, Benidorm becomes a benchmark for music outside and within our borders, promoting training at the highest level." Pérez has stressed that this Course "is a unique opportunity for the participating students, since for six days they will receive classes from consecrated teachers of different musical specialities, thus deepening their training."

Specifically, this edition of the Course has the instrumental specialities of cello, piano, trumpet, violin, saxophone and marimba, which will be taught by teachers Michal Dmochowski, Angel Sanzo, Luis González, Savva Fatkulin, Simón Diricq and Conrado Moya. This group of teachers will be accompanied by the pianists Graham Jackson, Pepe Gallego, Francisco Martí and Liza Yaroshinskaia.

Pérez explained that "precisely with the aim of supporting the training of new generations of local musicians, the City Council partially or fully grants the assistance of 42 participants from our city, who are either part of one of our three music bands or well they study at the 'José Pérez Barcelo' Municipal Conservatory of Music”.

As the mayor has underlined, "in addition to the students, the Course is also an opportunity for the public, who from July 3 to 8 will be able to enjoy the concerts by teachers and students that will be held in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, beginning this Sunday with the inaugural recital offered by Víctor Pellicer, the winner of the previous edition, which took place in the speciality of the saxophone”.
